FREETOWN: President Ernest Bia
Koroma has said in Freetown that political leaders can only
win elections through very good performance while in office.
The Head of State made the remark on the eve of his
departure to the Republic of Benin where he is joining
distinguished African leaders invited to the inauguration of
President- elect Boni Yayi who recently won elections for a
second term in office.
Speaking on
the significance of the visit, President Koroma said it is
in pursuit of the broad Democracy Project in the West
African sub-region which clearly indicates that the wind of
change is indeed blowing very strongly. Both President
Koroma and President-elect Yayi are the two emerging leaders
who formed part of the three- man ECOWAS Presidential
delegation which sought to resolve the political stalemate
in the Republic of Ivory Coast.
President
Koroma is expected to return to Freetown after the
inauguration in the Benin Capital, Cotonou.
