PRESS RELEASE
RE: NATIONAL REVENUE AUTHORITY
The Commissioner, Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) has informed the Office of the President that since October this year, the ACC has been investigating specific reports of allegations made against the Commissioner-General of the National Revenue Authority (NRA). The allegations include inter alia misappropriation of public funds, misappropriation of donor funds, abuse of office, abuse of position, corrupt acquisition of wealth, fraudulent or willful or negligent failure to comply with procurement laws or procedures and conflict of interest.
In order not to prejudice the ACC’s investigations and to expedite action by giving the Commission unfettered access to documents and witnesses, His Excellency the President has deemed it expedient to direct that Mr. Allieu Sesay, Commissioner-General, NRA should proceed on leave with immediate effect pending the determination of the investigations. While he is on leave, the Deputy Commissioner-General Ms Haja Isata Kallah-Kamara will act as Commissioner-General, NRA.
His Excellency the President has further directed that the ACC should swiftly conduct the investigations and bring them to a conclusion as soon as possible. E N D State House Freetown 18th December, 2009 |
